Made for twistys
The Mazda MX5 (or Miata some will say), is a well known lovely little roadster. The 1.6 liter engine provides 116 horses and the car weighs just about 950kg. This Mazda was born in 1993 and has upgraded suspension and rolls on Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The handeling is fantastic! The lack of weight you really notice and it makes cornering pretty fun. Especially because this car has the LSD from the 1.8 model. The manual gearbox has a wonderful short throw and is really direct. Even Richard Hammond once said this was his favourite manual gearbox ever. With these tyres it has more grip than power, and that makes it faster through corners than most cars you will pass on a Sunday morning drive. When the road is a bit damp, the car isn't afraid to let his tail swing out a bit. But because of the direct steering and the low weight, the car is really predictable so oversteer is not hard to correct. This example also has bucket seats out of a Lotus Elise and that makes the whole driving experience a lot better. The seating position is nice and low and you feel every movement the car makes. Personally i would like to have it even a bit lower, but that's because i'm 1.95m tall. The car isn't made for long journeys. There is a lot of road and wind noise and it's even worse when the top is closed. This is a car for the little evening and weekend drives on some lovely twisty roads and it will give you a very big smile!
This limited edition MX5 is painted in a lovely British Racing Green colour. Which is a perfect match with the tan interior. The striping is not original but gives this roadster an outlaw kind of look. The car is lowered by 3 cm's and has 15 inch Enkei wheels, which not only upgrades the handeling but also the looks. This road, the weather and this car is just a perfect combination for a Sunday drive.
The limited edition comes standard with a Momo steering wheel. However in this car it's replaced by a smaller example which gives the driver a bit more legroom. The driving gloves that are used are the lovely Vintage Racers and match perfectly with this roadster.
